The Leba Mountain Pass is a breathtaking road spirals like a snake. It is kind of a highway, a true section of road almost fatal, without any protection, with cantilevered hairpin bends all the way to the top. The Leba Mountain Pass connects the city of Lubango to Namibe and it reaches an altitude of about 6000 feet in just a few kilometers, and a height of 1845 meters above sea level.

The Leba Pass lies between Lubango and Namibe. It offers marvelous views of the surrounding area and there are numerous dramatic rock formations. The road winds through a tropical area and takes you down some 1500 m to the dry coastal strip. Lubango is located on the Leba plateau at an altitude of 1700m, making it one of the highest cities in Angola.

Driving across the forested mountains and over the Leba Pass, numerous waterfalls can be seen lining the zigzagging route. The Leba Pass road was built in the 70's and it has been in the country's postcard images for decades.
