The Tundavala Fissure is a spectacular viewpoint in the rim from the great escarpment of the Leba Hill, which creates a rather impressive view, encompassing a distance of tens of kilometers.

The Tundavala volcanic fissure, locally known as “Fenda da Tundavala”, is one of the most amazing natural sights in Huila province, south of Angola, between the cities of Lubango and Namibe.

The Tundavala fissure has an altitude of about 2,600m (8,528 ft) above sea level and offers incomparable breathtaking views over rolling hills well above the clouds. These features places the Tundavala in the list of the top rated tourism attraction and best nature wonders in southern Africa region.

As one of the most spectacular sights found in Angola, the Tundavala fissure presents an impressive decline, which gives an exciting view of the vast desert of Namibe and the Atlantic coastal plain well over 1,200m (3,937 ft) below. The immense and stunning view of the Tundavala volcanic fissure covers an estimated area of 4,000 hectares (9,884 acres).

Due to its amazing features, the Tundavala rugged volcanic escarpment is a fantastic place to visit, especially for thrill seekers who can hike to the top of the crack to enjoy awesome views of the beautiful natural surroundings and unusual rocks. Apart from the view of sheer cliff faces, the Tundavala volcanic fissure area includes patches of forest, open savanna and montane grasslands.

Because of its touristic importance, one of 4 stadiums that hosted the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, in the City of Lubango, was named “Stadium of the Tundavala”.
